How group buying works
Groupbuyers is a community bulk-buying shop. You order groceries like normal, and as more neighbours order the same item the price drops for everyone. When the group reaches wholesale volume, you pay wholesale.
- Browse the Shop. Every item shows today's price, the discount the group has unlocked so far, and a progress bar towards the next discount.
- Add to cart the items and quantities you want.
- Reserve your order at checkout. Reserving does not charge you. It holds your quantity in the group buy at no worse than the price you saw.
- Watch the price. As more neighbours order the same items, the price can only get cheaper. Reserved orders on your dashboard always show the group's current price.
- Complete your order from your dashboard when you are ready. That locks in the price shown and pays from your credit balance. Or set the order to auto-complete when the cycle closes, so it is completed and charged at the final price.
- Delivery or pickup. Choose a delivery address and method on the order, then follow its status until it is delivered.
Prices and discounts
Each item has price tiers. The more units the whole group has committed this cycle, the bigger the discount. The card shows a line such as "12 units committed this cycle, 8 more unlocks 10% off". The discount applies to everyone in the group at that price, not just the people who ordered last. Hover over the bar to see every tier. Prices are steps: the whole tier price applies as soon as the group reaches the tier's starting quantity.
Units count towards the group total for as long as you are inside your own group-buy period (shown on My Account), counted from the date of each order.
The cycle countdown
The banner at the top of the Shop shows when the current group-buy cycle closes. Reserved orders that are not completed by then are completed and charged only if you set them to auto-complete; otherwise they are cancelled with no charge. The banner also shows how long your cart items are held and when your own units stop counting towards the group price.
Cart
Your cart holds the items while you shop. Cart items are held for your group-buy period from the day you added them, then they are released. You can change quantities, remove items, clear the cart, or Save to shopping list. Checkout shows the worst-case total at today's pricing and your available credit.
Reserved orders and your dashboard
My Dashboard shows your credit balance, your available balance (your balance minus reserved orders), how much you have saved through group pricing, and your reserved orders. For each reserved order you can set the delivery address, delivery method and date, choose whether it auto-completes at cycle close, remove items, Complete order (locks the price and pays from credit) or Cancel order. If you cancel, no charge is made. Unpaid reserved orders expire automatically after your group-buy period. Your completed purchase history and spending over time are further down the page.
Buy again
Open any past order from your dashboard and click Buy these items again. The same quantities are added to your cart at today's price. Items that are no longer sold, out of stock or beyond your available credit are skipped and listed for you. Nothing is charged until you check out.
Use Share this deal on a shop card or product page to send a link to a friend, by your phone's share sheet where available, or by copying a link (or opening WhatsApp on a computer). The more neighbours join, the lower the price gets for everyone.
Credits (your wallet)
Everything is paid from your credit balance. Open Credits to see your current balance, available balance, total credited and total spent. Buy credits by choosing an amount and a payment method: Google Pay or PayPal (the surcharge is shown before anything is charged), or cheque or online bank payment (manual: an admin confirms the funds arrived, and a surcharge applies when confirmed). Nothing is charged until you accept the amount on the next page. Your account has a maximum allowed balance; if you reach it, buying more credit is paused until your balance drops. You can also send credits to someone and accept or reject credits sent to you, and request a refund from your dashboard. Transaction history can be exported to CSV.
Delivery and pickup
Each reserved order can use same-day delivery, next-day delivery, a scheduled delivery day, or customer pickup (free). Same-day delivery stops being available later in the day. Add your delivery addresses on My Addresses. After you complete an order its status moves through steps such as Pending delivery, Awaiting packaging, Items boxed, Out for delivery and Delivered. Once it is delivered you can confirm receipt and leave feedback on the order page.
Returns
Any item that is unused, unopened, unaltered and undamaged can be returned within 72 hours of delivery. Returns are made in person: ask through the Support page within 72 hours with your order number, and we will confirm where and when to bring the item. For an item under TT$50 that is not defective, we ask for a short video instead. Defective products must always be returned in person. Damage after delivery is not a reason for return. Approved returns are settled as an exchange: an identical replacement or wallet credit, never cash. The full policy is on the Returns policy page.
Alerts
The Alerts link in the top bar shows updates: when an order is completed, when an item in your cart or reserved orders reaches a lower price, and when the cycle or your cart hold is about to close. Click Mark all read to clear the count.
Shopping lists
Shopping List lets you keep named lists of products and quantities. Create a list, browse the shop to add products to it, then Add selected to cart when you are ready.
My account
My Account holds your profile and contact details, billing address, delivery addresses, group-buy period, demographics and password. Use Change password to update it.
Trends and status
Trends & Prices shows community demand by category, the most purchased items, price changes by item, and your own purchase leaderboard. Status shows whether the system is running normally.
Getting help
Use Support to open a ticket, see your existing tickets, or find direct contact details. Include your order number when your question is about an order. This help page can also answer how-do-I questions from this manual; it cannot see your account or change anything.
Troubleshooting
- "Not enough credit" when reserving or adding to cart. Your available credit (balance minus reserved orders) is lower than the worst-case total. Buy credits from the Credits page.
- An item says it is unavailable. Stock is held by other carts and reserved orders. Try again later or choose a smaller quantity.
- A reserved order disappeared. It expired after your group-buy period, or the cycle closed while it was not set to auto-complete. No charge was made.
- This form has expired or could not be verified. The page was open too long. Reload the page and try again.
